Every year the Nobles SWCD assists with the State Envirothon. The Envirothon is a program for high school students designed to promote natural resources involvement and education. The Environthon is one of Minnesota’s largest environmental education initiatives. Schools within Nobles County are strongly encouraged to support teams to attend this educational competition. Students from grades 9 through 12 are allowed to compete.

The Nobles SWCD assists with the Area 5 Environmental Fair. Schools in Southwest Minnesota are provided an opportunity to send their 5th grade students to a day long educational opportunity. The Environmental Fair is a arrangement of several different sessions devoted to ecology, soils, wildlife, and vegetation associated with Southwestern Minnesota. The Nobles SWCD appreciates the cooperation of the 5th grade classes that attend the Environmental Fair.

The Nobles SWCD, NRCS, Kanaranzi-Little Rock Watershed, and the City of Adrian’s Parks Department has developed a native prairie learning area on the banks of the Kanaranzi Creek. The Learning Area is located on the west side of Adrian along Nobles County Highway 35. Adrian High School Advanced Biology students have provided education sessions in the fall of 2005 and 2006. The students have provided educational opportunities for several 5th grade classes from Elementary Schools in Adrian, Ellsworth and Leota.
