Education Programs

Please see the list below in regards to the different educational programs we assist with. The Nobles SWCD also works with the area schools regarding programs for Arbor Day and Earth Day.
Environmental Fair

This educational program is open to 5th and 6th grade students. The Environmental Fair held in Southwest Minnesota provides a full day of educational opportunities to students in regards to water quality and wildlife. The Environmental Fair regularly educates over 1,200 5th and 6th grade students every year. This year the Environmental fair will be postponed until 2022.

Envirothon

The Nobles SWCD assists with the Regional and State Envirothon annually. The Envirothon is an Environmental Education competition comprised by several teams of local high school students.

Worthington Prairie Wetland Learning Tour

Every fall Worthington Schools are invited to a half-day educational learning tour at a restored wetland area in Worthington, Minnesota. Partners including Nobles SWCD, NRCS, US Fish and Wildlife, and the Okabena-Ocheda Watershed District educate local 5th grade students on wetland vegetation as well as wildlife and aquatic insects.

Adrian Prairie Learning Tour

The Nobles SWCD, KLR Watershed District, along with the Adrian High School Advanced Biology Students provide a half-day educational opportunity to local 5th grade elementary students. The Biology students prepare small sessions on the local prairie ecosystem information and present these sessions to 5th grade students. This unique opportunity allows us to facilitate educational opportunities for both High School and Elementary students.
